BA sweeps Central Private

Brookhaven Academy captured four wins Saturday against Central Private Academy at John R. Gray Gymnasium.

In the girls’ contest, the Lady Cougars (15-9) thumped the Lady Rebels 39-22.

In boys’ action, BA (10-11) defeated Central Private 43-34.

Lady Cougars 39, Lady Rebels 22

The Lady Cougars took charge in the opening period to claim a 10-5 lead over the Lady Rebels. They cruised to a 17-9 lead at halftime.

BA overpowered Central Private with a 22-13 run in the final two periods to secure the win.

Edie Riley directed the Lady Cougars with 11 points and two rebounds. Kailyn Jordan pumped in nine rebounds and led on the boards with four rebounds. Anna-Michael Smith and Cameron Watson netted five points each. Shelby Flumm provided four points. Leah Case scored three points and Anna Grace Covington had two points.

Dannie Loftstrom was the top scorer for the Lady Rebels with 11 points. Sam Romero contributed six points.

Brookhaven Acad. 43, Central Private 34 

The Cougars dominated the first half as BA carried a 30-19 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Central Private won the scoring battle 15-13, but the Cougars held on for the win.

Luke Jackson paced the Cougars with 13 points and four rebounds. Dylan Winborne and Ethan Nations contributed 10 points apiece. Austin Smith netted eight points and was the leader on the boards with six rebounds. Ross Felder added two points and had five rebounds.

Alex Martin led the Rebels’ offense with 14 points. Gavin Andre scored eight points and Thomas Richardson had seven points.

In junior high action, BA took two from Central Private.

In the girls’ contest, the Lady Cougars drilled the Lady Rebels 41-9. Macy Grace Smith powered the Lady Cougars with 12 points. Ainsley Allen chipped in eight points.

In boys’ action, BA thumped Central Private 55-17. Cade Brown paced the Cougars’ attack with 19 points. Tanner Thurman contributed 17 points
