Man found guilty of armed robbery

One of two Brookhaven men associated with a string of actual and intended burglaries three days after Christmas in 2014 was recently found guilty at trial.

Laterrence Lenoir, 25, of 424 Liberty St., was found guilty of two counts of armed robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery in a trial that lasted two days. Judge Michael Taylor is scheduled to sentence Lenoir today, District Attorney Dee Bates confirmed.

On Dec. 28, 2014, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office arrested Lenoir and Desmond Williams for an alleged house burglary on Toy Drive. Sheriff Steve Rushing said the property owner noticed a vehicle with the two male suspects leaving their property.

A deputy was able to locate the vehicle described by the property owner. Rushing said during the course of the investigation they discovered property from Toy Drive in the car and through further investigation were able to tie the two to burglaries on Old Malcum Road and Haley Trail.

Lenoir was indicted on March 24 for the offense of possession of burglary tools, three counts of burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.

Charged with three counts of house burglary, both suspects had previous warrants: Williams, from the city for aggravated assault, and Lenoir, for a robbery at the Dollar General on Highway 550.

The indictment states on or about Dec. 28, 2014, in Lincoln County, Williams and Lenoir did have in their possession tools designed to aid in the commission of burglary: three screwdrivers, two pipe wrenches and a ball peen hammer.

Count two states that on or about Dec. 28, Lenoir and Williams did willfully, unlawfully, feloniously and burglariously break and enter a dwelling house at 1505 Toy Drive by forcing an outer door of the house with the intent to commit the crime of larceny.

Count three states that on the same day in 2014, Williams and Lenoir conspired and agreed with each other, and/or with some other person or persons unknown to the grand jury, to commit the crime of burglary of a dwelling.

Count four states that also on Dec. 28, 2014, Williams and Lenoir broke in and entered a home at 2450 Hailey Trail by forcing an outer door with the intent to commit the crime of grand larceny therein.

Count five states that also on the same day, Williams and Lenoir did burglariously break and enter a home at 2729 Old Malcum Road by forcing open the door with intent to commit the crime of larceny.
