Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Smith of Vicksburg are Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Glenwood Funeral home with Rev. Mitchell Cochran officiating. A graveside service will be held the same day at 3 p.m. in the Bogue Chitto Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith, 88, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Promise Hospital. She was born March 1, 1927, in Lincoln County to William Anderson (Ance) Smith III and Effie Mae Terrell.
Mrs. Smith was retired from South Central Bell Telephone Co. and was a member of the Career Homemakers Club. Her favorite activities included playing softball (in her younger years), bowling, working with ceramics and trying new recipes.
She was a member of Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, member of the choir and a member of the Clark and Kings Bible Classes.
Pallbearers will be Brian Westbrook, Walter Westbrook, Mark Davis, Christopher Davis, Jonathan Davis and Gary Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Samuel Pierce, Dr. Paul Pierce IV, John O’Bannon, Tom Pharr, the Career Homemakers Club and the Clark and Kings Bible Class.
She is survived by many cousins and friends.
