MEADVILLE – The Loyd Star Lady Hornets defeated the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 2-1 in Tuesday night district action in soccer.

The Lady Hornets were led in scoring by senior Julie Smith and junior Shelby Smith with a goal each in the first half. The Lady Bulldogs scored their only goal in the second half on a penalty kick.

On defense, the Lady Hornets were directed by seniors Shelby Richardson and Madison Jones with nine clearances each, followed by Courtney Wyatt with eight and Mikayla Warren with seven. Goalie Polly Patterson had one save on the night.

In boys’ action, the Hornets lost to Franklin County 4-0. Loyd Star’s defense was led by Brantley Brister and Dylan Smith with eight clearances each, followed by Lane Rogers, Bailey Smith and Bryson Brister with six. Mason Falvey and Dylan McDavid finished with five. Goalie Payne Walker had 12 saves for the night for Loyd Star.
