Robert Eugene ‘Bob’ Cox

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Eugene “Bob” Cox  of Brookhaven are Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with burial at 1:30 p.m. at Lakeland Place Garden Park in Flowood. 

Visitation is Friday, Jan. 22, 2016,  at Riverwood from 5 until 8 p.m.

Mr. Cox, 78, died Jan. 19, 2016, at Hospice Ministries. Bob was born May 29, 1937, to Charley Nelson Cox and Theodora Frances Lowrance Cox in Douglas, Arizona.

He lived in Cottage Grove, Oregon throughout his childhood. As a young adult, he joined the United States Navy and traveled the world on the USS Antietam. He met and married his wife in Pensacola, Florida.

They lived in Satsuma, Alabama for many years prior to settling in Brookhaven.

Bob was an electrician with Georgia Pacific. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brookhaven where he was also a member of the Men’s Club.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and, in his younger days,

shrimping in Mobile Bay with his wife and daughters. He loved spending time in his garden and enjoyed sharing his vegetables with his friends and neighbors. Bob loved college football, especially Alabama Football.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Hazel Cosson Cox; daughters, Robyn Cox Agnew and husband, Levoy Bryant “Bo” Agnew IV, and Krista Cox Murphy and husband, Pendleton Bond Murphy; brothers, Harold Cox, George “Mickey” Cox, Charley Nelson “Chuck” Cox Jr. and Stephen Cox; sisters, Darlene Cox Ladd and Wanda Cox Bessey; four grandchildren, Levoy Bryant “Bodie” Agnew V, Cosson Elizabeth Agnew, Madeline Elizabeth Murphy and Lannin Bond Murphy.

In lieu of flowers the family would like for donations to be made to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Cancer Research, 2500 N State St. Jackson, MS 39216, in memory of Robert Eugene “Bob” Cox.
