Wesson soccer defeats Crystal Springs

WESSON – The Wesson Cobras and the Lady Cobras are riding a three-game streak after beating the Crystal Springs Tigers in a pair of division games Tuesday night in Wesson.

In the girls’ contest, the Lady Cobras (9-5, 3-2) shut out the Lady Tigers 8-0.

Sophomore Kim San powered the Lady Cobras with three goals and three steals. Cheyenne Gladden punched in two goals and had three steals for the Lady Cobras. Destiney Day also scored two goals and had four steals. Amber Brinson finished with one goal and three steals. Brooke Jones and Emily Gregg had five steals each.

Harmoni Ashley collected the shutout for the Lady Cobras with three saves.

In boys’ action, Wesson (7-5, 3-2) beat Crystal Springs 3-1.

Marcus Jones, Dylan Ingle and Skyler Rasberry paced the Cobras with a goal each. Steven Dennis and Ingle led the team with 10 steals. Jones finished with nine steals.

Alex Mooney collected the win as Wesson’s goalie with six saves.

The Cobras and Lady Cobras will return to action Friday as they battle Loyd Star at Hansel King Sportsplex. Action begins at 4 p.m.
