BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats dominated the Natchez Cathedral Lady Green Wave to claim a 63-39 victory in a non-divisional contest Friday night at the Bobcat Palace.

In the boys’ game, the Green Wave defeated the Bobcats 60-45.

Bogue Chitto will resume action Tuesday as it hosts the West Marion Trojans for three games. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity games at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Lady Cats 63, Lady Green Wave 39 

BC took a 27-24 lead into halftime and exploded with a 39-12 run in the final two quarters to clinch the victory.

“We started off very sluggish in the first half both offensively and defensively,” said BC coach Christi Terrell. “In the second half the girls played better defensively and quickly took control of the game.”

Zariah Matthews powered the Lady Cats with 21 points, five rebounds and four steals. Shay Jefferson contributed with 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals. Lineka Newson had nine points and five rebounds. Taneshia May scored five points and had two rebounds. Karly Leake finished with four points, two rebounds and two steals. Terrah Nelson added three points and grabbed seven rebounds. Karlie Williams provided three points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals. Christian Black had three points and was the leader on the boards with eight rebounds.

Elizabeth Smith directed the Lady Green Wave with 11 points. Marty Lewis had nine points. Grayson Bryant scored eight points. Caroline Kaiser finished with seven points.

Cathedral 60, Bogue Chitto 45

The Green Wave started the first half strong to take a commanding 33-14 lead into halftime.

The Bobcats would hold Cathedral to only seven points in the third quarter but still trailed 40-29.

In the fourth, Cathedral reclaimed the momentum and outscored BC 20-16 to secure the win.

“Offensively we struggled, defensively we were OK. We did not come out of the gate running and it hurt us at the end,” said BC coach Mark Pitts.

D.J. Nunnery led the Bobcats with 22 points. Malik Richardson contributed 11 points. LaFredrick Dillon had five points. Henry Thomas added three points. Branden Blackwell and Darius Porter both had two points each.

Connor Mire paced the Green Wave’s offense with 15 points. D.J. Batieste contributed 10 points. Derrion Batieste scored eight points. James Coley, Will Wallace, and Jardavius Anderson provided seven points apiece.
