West Lincoln cruises past Salem

West Lincoln defeated Salem in two non-division contests Friday night at Jack Case gymnasium.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Bears (12-8, 3-2) crushed the Lady Wildcats 55-28.

The Bears (13-7, 3-2) beat the Wildcats 82-56.

West Lincoln hosts county rival and division opponent Loyd Star Tuesday night. Varsity games will begin at 6 p.m.

Lady Bears 55, Lady Wildcats 28 

West Lincoln took control of the game early with a 15-5 run in the first quarter and took a commanding 35-14 lead into halftime.

In the second half, West Lincoln outscored the Lady Wildcats 20-14 to secure the win.

“Glad to get the win, but we need to be more consistent on offense and defense,” said West Lincoln coach Lane Young. “We had too many lapses on both during the game.”

Jana Case led the Lady Bears with 23 points and eight rebounds. Hanna Moak collected a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Skylar Hall added nine points and five rebounds followed by Layton Sills’ six points and two rebounds. Ali Mullins had three points and two rebounds.

West Lincoln 82, Salem 56

The Bears easily dominated the Wildcats in the first half to take a 40-21 lead.

In the second half, West Lincoln continued to roll, finishing with a 42-35 run to clinch the win.

“We came out on fire on offense and defensively were really good,” said Young. “I thought we really competed hard tonight and need to keep that going as we get closer to the district tournament.”

Ronnie Edwards powered the Bears with a double-double performance of 34 points and 11 rebounds. KeShaun London had 24 points, five rebounds and four steals. Donterrius Taylor followed with nine points, three rebounds and three steals. Adam Martinez added five points, two rebounds and four assists.
