BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats defeated the West Marion Lady Trojans 85-29 Tuesday night at the Bobcat Palace in non-district action.

In boys’ action, the Trojans knocked off the Bobcats to claim a 90-84 victory.

Bogue Chitto will resume action Friday as the Lady Cats and Bobcats invade Natchez to battle the Natchez Cathedral Green Wave. Action will begin at 5 p.m. with a junior varsity game, followed by two varsity games.

Lady Cats 85, Lady Trojans 29 

The Lady Cats’ tempo overwhelmed the Lady Trojans in the first quarter as BC roared to a 24-3 lead and cruised to an 51-18 lead at halftime.

In the second half, the Lady Cats outscored the Lady Trojans 34-11 to collect the victory.

Zariah Matthews pumped in 21 points, three rebounds, four assists and five steals to lead the Lady Cats. Shay Jefferson contributed with 16 points and three rebounds. Taneshia May provided 12 points, four rebounds and five steals. Christian Black netted 12 points and had seven rebounds. Lineka Newson scored nine points. Karlie Williams had seven points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Terrah Nelson added five points, six rebounds and six assists. Cheyenne Hall finished with two points.

Krystal Harrell was the top scorer for the Lady Trojans with nine points. Janiece Brady netted seven points.

West Marion 90, Bogue Chitto 84 

The Bobcats and the Trojans battled in a close contest in the first half as West Marion carried a 43-35 lead into halftime.

Bogue Chitto outscored West Marion 49-47 in the final two quarters but it wasn’t enough.

“We finally played ball tonight for 32 minutes. I am very proud of my boys. They never gave up,” said BC coach Mark Pitts.

Malik Richardson led the Bobcats with 28 points. D.J. Nunnery contributed 24 points. Zach Upkins provided eight points. Brandon Blackwell netted six points. Darius Porter and LaFredrick Dillon both had five points. Tyler Brumfield scored four points. Damarcus Godbolt added three points.

Anthonee Mark directed the Trojans with 25 points. Adrian Miller contributed 20 points. Terrion Bell netted nine points. Josh Miller, Braxton Smith, and Cyrus Thompson all had eight points apiece.
