The Our Lady Academy Lady Crescents defeated the Loyd Star Lady Hornets 4-0 in the opening round of the Class 1A-2A-3A soccer playoffs Monday at Hansel King Sportsplex.

The Lady Hornets concluded their season with an 8-4-1 record overall. In division action Loyd Star finished 5-1 on the season and won its first district crown.

“We had a great season overall and I am very proud for the girls,” said Loyd Star coach Dale Brister. “This was a great learning experience for our girls in making the playoffs. We are already looking forward to next season.”

Madison Jones powered the Lady Hornets’ defense with six takeaways. Shelby Richard and MaKayla Warren contributed five takeaways. Julie Smith finished with four takeaways and Courtney Wyatt had three takeaways.

Loyd Star goalie Polly Patterson finished with 11 saves against Our Lady Academy.
