Provine hands Brookhaven second straight loss

JACKSON – The Provine Rams handed the Brookhaven Panthers their second straight loss of the season with a 68-62 setback in Region 3-5A action Tuesday night.

In girls’ action, the Lady Rams hammered the Lady Panthers in the second half to claim a 48-23 victory.

Brookhaven will resume division action Friday as the Lady Panthers and the Panthers visit Natchez. The varsity girls will tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.

Provine 68, Brookhaven 62

The Rams came out strong in the first quarter to claim a 21-15 lead and continued their momentum in the second to carry a 42-28 advantage into halftime.

Brookhaven managed to find its offensive rhythm and roared back with a 34-28 run in the final two quarters, but fell short in their comeback attempt.

The Panthers had four players to score in double figures as Lazorian McNulty led the charge with 25 points, four rebounds and two steals. Shon Blackwell and Darrian Wilson chipped in 12 points apiece. Blackwell also had four assists and two steals. Wilson was the leader on the boards with six rebounds. Garrick Smith scored 11 points and had five rebounds. Danarius Gray finished with two points, four rebounds and three assists.
