Resurrection ends FC’s soccer season

Resurrection Catholic eliminated Franklin County in the opening round of the Class 1A-2A-3A state soccer playoffs.
In Tuesday’s matchup, the Eagles blanked the Bulldogs 2-0 in the opening round in Meadville.
Resurrection’s junior Patrick Larsen led his team with two goals.
The Bulldogs, coached by Jeff Long, finished the season with an 18-2 record overall. Franklin County finished undefeated in the region at 6-0 to win the division crown.
In Wednesday’s contest, the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs traveled to Pascagoula to battle the Lady Eagles and lost 6-0.
Amy Ditsworth powered the Lady Eagles with three goals. Mia Richardson provided two goals and Sarah Walden scored one goal.
The Lady Bulldogs concluded their season with an 8-5-4 record and finished second in their division race with a 4-2 record.
Senior Kyle McCormick, Long and assistant coach Stephanie McCormick will represent Franklin County in the MAC All-Star soccer game Feb. 9 at Clinton High School. They were selected on the South All-Star Team.
