The Brookhaven Little Theatre will host a Valentine’s weekend movie showing at the Haven Theatre on Friday.

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the classic movie “Casablanca” will be played. “Casablanca” is a 1942 romantic drama featuring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid. The movie is said to be the greatest love story ever told.021116_Theatre VD-e

“Our goal is to pick some special times of the year where people will be coming to Brookhaven,” Greg Russell, executive director of the Brookhaven Little Theatre, said. “We tried to pick a movie that might be attractive to the holiday. We picked ‘Casablanca’ for its romantic value.”

The movie will begin at 8 p.m. and the box office and doors will open at 7 p.m. Desserts will be served along with the movie.

“The Brookhaven Little Theatre produces five plays a year, which leaves the theatre dark most of the time,” Russell said. “We wanted to make the building more used and movies are an easy way to do that. The investment in the movie equipment was small, and we are licensed by Warner Brothers to show their movies. We want our venue to be used as a place for the people to come to for the arts.”

Tickets are available for pre-purchase at Magnolia Blues BBQ, Pappas Pizza Pi, Pasta Junction, Brookhaven Music & Sound and Gregg’s Office Supply, or at the door. Admission is $15 a person or $25 a couple.
