Lady Jackets crush Lady Bulldogs

MIZE – Enterprise captured a split decision over Mize Friday night in its final regular season contest.

The Enterprise Lady Jackets dominated the Mize Lady Bulldogs to claim a 61-29 victory.

In boys’ action, Mize squeezed out a narrow 77-74 win over Enterprise.

Enterprise begins Region 7-2A tournament action Tuesday at West Lincoln. The Lady Jackets will take on Bassfield at 4 p.m. The Jackets will battle Loyd Star at 8:30 p.m.

Lady Jackets 61, Lady Bulldogs 29

The Lady Jackets hammered the Lady Bulldogs in the first period to claim a 21-3 lead and continued the onslaught in the second to secure a 34-9 lead at halftime.

In the second half, the Lady Jackets added to their lead with a 27-16 run in the final two quarters to secure the win.

“I was very pleased with my girls’ effort,” said Enterprise coach Jill Nations. “This was a great win for us to end the regular season. Now, we must regroup and get ready for the district tournament.”

The Lady Jackets had two players to score in double figures as Carlee Nations led the team with 12 points, three assists and two steals. Alissa Barlow netted 10 points and had four steals. Breyuana Johnson chipped in eight points, two rebounds and two steals. Michelle Herrington, Eden Ward and Brook Foster each scored six points. Karlee Burgess and Hayley Nations had five points each. Monisha Pendleton finished the night with three points.

Destiny Blackwell and Melissa Moffett were the top scorers for the Lady Bulldogs with nine point each.

Mize 77, Enterprise 74

Enterprise and Mize battled to a 15-all tie to end the first period. In the second quarter, the Jackets outscored Mize 27-23 to take a 42-38 lead into halftime.

In the third, Mize took control of the game, putting together a 21-13 run to secure a 59-55 lead. Mize held on for the win in a contested fourth quarter.

Dwayne Pendleton powered the Jackets with 27 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Jontavious Smith contributed 20 points, five rebounds and four assists. Darren Richardson provided 13 points, three rebounds and two assists. Cade Feltus scored seven points and had two rebounds. Austin Carter had three points. Hunter Bland and Zach Hodges finished with two points each.

In junior varsity boys’ action, Enterprise defeated Mize 23-22.

Hunter Bland paced the Jackets with nine points. Peytin Jergins provided six points. Braxton Wallis had five points. Hunter Rushing scored two points and Austin Burns finished with one point.
