Brookhaven resident Jason Snider, 28, was given the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award at Mississippi State University’s annual Alumni Association awards banquet Feb. 12 in Starkville.

“I was kind of taken off guard, but it’s been a tremendous honor, receiving it,” Snider said. “I’m very glad I got involved. Mississippi State has helped me. They’re great people.  As an undergraduate student, and even after graduating, I’ve been able to keep in touch with my friends. They also allowed me to expand my contacts and meet people who have been very influential in my life.”

After graduating MSU in 2010 with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a double major in banking finance and insurance risk management, he went on to earn a Master of Health Services Administrations at Mississippi College in 2012.

Snider currently works as risk management coordinator for King’s Daughters Medical Center, where he handles patient grievances, contracts and liability insurance.

“I wanted to go into the healthcare field. I wanted to be in a profession that I would be able to make an impact on someone’s life and the community. While I don’t have a direct patient care effect, I’ve been able to reduce some of our expenses and insurance premiums and also revise some policies that would have an impact on patients going forward.”

Snider said he’s also involved in politics. In 2015, he was Lincoln County campaign chairman for Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann and is currently on the Lincoln County Republican Executive Committee.

Snider is also an active member of Brookhaven Seventh-day Adventist Church. He’s also vice president of the Brookhaven Servitium Club, president of the Brookhaven Trust and a member of the Brookhaven Downtown Committee.

Along with Snider’s award, he said the Lincoln County chapter of the MSU Alumni Association was also presented with the a Silver Bell award. Chapter president Sandy Windborne was present to accept the award.

“We had a good representation for Brookhaven and Lincoln County this past weekend,” Snider said.
