Lady Chiefs defeat Lady Cobras

TYLERTOWN – The Tylertown Lady Chiefs beat the Wesson Lady Cobras 66-21 Monday night in the opening round of the Class 3A state playoffs.

The Lady Cobras, coached by Rusty Newman, conclude their season with a 7-24 record overall.

The Lady Chiefs dominated the Lady Cobras in the first half as they captured a 21-8 lead in the first quarter and continued the onslaught in the second with a 22-6 run.

Tylertown outscored Wesson 23-7 in the final two quarters to collect the victory.

NeQuivia Hargrove powered the Lady Chiefs with 21 points. LaKevionna Thompson chipped in 20 points. Mylicia Harness had a double-double night for Tylertown with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Aurianna Vaughn was the top scoring leader for the Lady Cobras with six points. Jashia Smith contributed five points. Alaysha Vaughn netted four points. Alaysha Mims scored three points. Jerrineisha Braxton had two points, and Nekevia Frye added one point.
