Stars from the hit Lifetime TV show “Bring It” will visit Brookhaven and conduct the Dynamic Duo Dance Camp Saturday.

Rising STARS for Christ, a mentor group for young women, will host Sunjai and Tamia, dancers on the show, at the Lipsey School Gymnasium.

The event will consist of photos with the stars from 8:30 to 10 a.m., a meet-and-greet from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and the dance camp from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Event coordinator Latasha Fields said the event provides an opportunity for young women to experience a different type of activity.

“We have a meet-and-greet session, and that’s where the girls can ask Tamia and Sunjai questions,” Fields said. “Both of the girls — they were on the hit show ‘Bring It.’ At one o’clock to 4:30, (the campers) will actually be doing a dance routine or learning a dance routine.”

Fields said the dance camp will act as an opportunity for the community to try something new but also as a fundraiser for Rising STARS for Christ.

“The reason that we are doing the dance camp is because we are a mentoring program,” Fields said. “We are actually doing a fundraiser for our organization to do scholarships for our seniors who are just coming up, and we’re trying to pay for a building for our monthly meetings.”

Fields said anyone, of any age, in the community is welcome to attend the event.

Sunjai and Tamia are both from Jackson, and it would be a shame not to take this opportunity to educate the community and the young women in Rising STARS for Christ about the world of dance, at least for a day, Fields said.

Rising STARS for Christ’s mission is to inspire and empower young women for the glory of God.

“We mentor young women from the age of 12 up to the age of 24,” Fields said. “We participate in all activities. We do community service. We also do one-on-one mentoring. We do workshops monthly about self-esteem issues. As far as Christmas, we were able to help 10 families actually in Lincoln County, Pike County and also Copiah County.”

Fields said she believes events like the upcoming dance camp will change the dynamic of Brookhaven for the better and hopes to continue to expose young women to different opportunities.

Sponsors of the event are Broma’s Deli, Donut Palace, Precision Health Care, MnKensa’s Properties, Toyota of Brookhaven and Skate Zone.
