The FBI has been notified of an apparent cross-burning in Lawrence County, according to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.

The office issued a notice on Facebook saying that it received a report of the incident Thursday evening.

“Between 6-6:30 p.m. on Feb. 25 on Sontag Nola Road in the Sontag community someone called in something burning on the side of the road. When investigators arrived it appeared to be a small cross burning.”

The FBI has been notified and the incident is under investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
