Funeral services for William Clark Stokes are Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the Jackson Street United Methodist Church in Brookhaven with burial at 3 p.m. in Homewood Methodist Cemetery in Forest. Dr. Ron Kitchens, Bro. Ryan Thurman and Bro. Sam McDonald will officiate. John Stokes is to read a poem. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton is in charge of arrangements. 

Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Riverwood Funeral Home in Brookhaven.

Pallbearers will be Mike Duffie, Tim McDowell, Chris Terrell, Jody Jordan, Jaymie Palmer and Alfred Laird.

Mr. Stokes, 75, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at his residence.

Mr. Stokes had lived in Brookhaven since 1973 where he moved from Monticello. He was a native of Homewood. He was a member of the Jackson Street United Methodist Church in Brookhaven, where he taught Sunday school for over 30 years. He served in the Mississippi Army National Guard for 25 years. He was an avid Mississippi State Bulldog fan and loved researching the Bible. He also worked at the Mississippi School for the Blind for over 25 years, and he was the only sighted person in Mississippi at that time who could read Braille.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ernest and Bernice Stokes; brother, Dr. Billy Ferrell Stokes; half-brothers, Marzell, Curtis and Rev. Luther Ray Stokes; and half-sisters, Hazel Wolf and Irene Bradford.

Survivors are his wife of 48 years, Rose Stokes of Brookhaven; sons, Shane Stokes and wife, Renee, of Brookhaven and Eric Stokes and wife, Donna, of Brookhaven; sister, Mary Carol Watkins of Louisville; brother, Jimmy Stokes and wife, Barbara of Petal; six grandchildren, Kayla Chancellor, Madison Stokes, Shelby Stokes, Mary Parker Stokes, Tanner Stokes and Peyton Stokes; two great-grandchildren, Charley Kate Chancellor and Carter Chancellor; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Jackson Street United Methodist Church in Brookhaven.

Larry D. Sutton

Funeral services for Larry D. Sutton of Monticello are Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Monticello with burial in the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, from 1 until 7 p.m. with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m. at Williams Mortuary in Brookhaven.

Mr. Sutton, 62, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, in Prentiss. He was born Aug. 26, 1953, in Monticello to the late Fannie Sutton.
