Funeral services for Mr. Burnett are Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home with burial at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana. Brookhaven Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation is Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home.
Mr. Burnett, 87, died on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Pine Crest Nursing in Hazlehurst. He was born April 30, 1928, in Bothwell to James Thomas Burnett and Annie Bell Walley Burnett.
He was of the Catholic faith. He loved music. He was retired from Phillip Brothers Lumber Company where he worked as a foreman there as well as other various sawmill locations.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wives Carnetta Chestnutt Burnett and Donzie Mae Crain Burnett; daughter Cindy Fortenberry; and two sisters.
Survivors are his daughters, Pat Bordelon of Marksville, Louisiana, Terri Spurk and husband, Scott, of Madison, Pam Whittington and husband, Whit, of Crystal Springs, Tommie Jean Hart and husband, Mike, of Wesson, Donna Marie Davis and husband, John, of Brookhaven, Peggy Riddell of Morrilton, Arkansas, and Cathy Rogers of Laurel; sons Donnie Burnett and wife, Ellen, of Louisiana and Earl Wood and wife, Cynthia, of Laurel; cousin Tim Burnett; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Presston McDonnell, Dr. Murphy Martin, Pine Crest Nursing Home and all involved in caring for our dad.
