Lady Wolves begin Region 23 title run

WESSON -The road to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament in Lubbock, Texas goes through the Region 23 Tournament in Clinton, Mississippi. The Co-Lin Lady Wolves (Mississippi No. 3 seed) will play the Northwest Lady Rangers (Region No. 5 seed) in the first round on Wednesday, March 2, at 8 p.m. and can be heard live at www.colinathletics.com or WMJU 104.3 FM in Brookhaven.

In the first meeting between the two teams, the Lady Wolves (21-4) defeated the Lady Rangers (16-5) 75-68 in the opening round of the MACJC State Tournament last week.

In other women’s action, Itawamba (Mississippi No. 2 seed) will take on Southwest (Region No. 6 seed) to start the day at 12 p.m. Jones County (Mississippi No. 4 seed) will follow as they take on Baton Rouge Community College (Louisiana No. 1 seed) at 2 p.m. East Central (Mississippi No. 1 seed), the 2016 MACJC State Champions, will play Holmes (Region No. 7 seed) at 6 p.m. The Co-Lin-Northwest matchup will wrap up first round of women’s play.

With a win, the Lady Wolves will advance to the semi-finals to face the winner of East Central-Holmes, which will be played Friday, March 4, at 12 p.m. The women’s championship game is scheduled for Saturday, March 5 at 6 p.m.
