Lady Cats win one in softball classic

The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats captured a split decision in Saturday’s softball classic at West Lincoln. The Lady Cats lost to the Brookhaven Lady Panthers 10-0 and beat the West Lincoln Lady Bears 7-2.

“We showed some very young moments in game one, but bounced back in game two to collect the win,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “Our girls got some great experience today. Alana Nettles had a great day on the mound in the second game. We managed to get some timely hits to collect the win.”

The Lady Cats (1-1) will be in action today as they visit Meadville to battle the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6:15 p.m.

Lady Panthers 10, Lady Cats 0 

The Lady Panthers dominated the Lady Cats in a six-inning contest.

Katherine Shell pitched the win for Brookhaven with two strikeouts and two walks.

Codi Leggett suffered the setback on the mound for BC with two strikeouts and no walks.

Kat Wallace was the top hitter for the Lady Panthers at the plate with a double and a single. Haley Speaks provided a triple. Macy Ziskin and Shell had a double each. Tia Bussey and Jada Henderson hit a single apiece.

Cherie Savoie and Alana Nettles led the Lady Cats with a single each.

Lady Cats 7, Lady Bears 2 

Nettles was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with five strikeouts and one walk.

Megan Gerald suffered the loss for the Lady Bears with four strikeouts and five walks.

Stevie Montgomery and Codi Leggett paced the Lady Cats with a double and a single each. Julianna Frazier and Kayci Beth Wallace provided two singles apiece. Nettles ripped a double. Cherie Savoie, Reagan Kirkland and Alece Nettles hit safely.

Makennah Redd directed the Lady Bears with a double and a single. Millane Lewis had two singles. McKenzie Pyles hit a double and Sara Jane Doty had a single.
