Lady Cats thump Franklin Co.

MEADVILLE – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats crushed the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 15-1 in fastpitch softball action Tuesday night.

“We hit the ball really well,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “We did a great job running the bases and had a great defensive game.”

The Lady Cats (2-1) will resume action Thursday as they return home to host the Terry Lady Bulldogs in their home opener. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

Lady Cats 15, Lady Bulldogs 1 

The Lady Cats needed only four innings to beat the Lady Bulldogs. They plated five runs in the first inning, five runs in the second inning and three more runs in the third inning to secure a 13-0 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs scored their only run in the third inning to break up Bogue Chitto’s shutout.

The Lady Cats added two more runs in the top of the fourth inning to secure the win on a mercy run.

Codi Leggett was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with two strikeouts and one walk.

Emilee Wallace suffered the loss for the Lady Bulldogs with no strikeouts and five walks.

Reagan Kirkland powered the Lady Cats with a double and two singles. Cherie Savoie contributed three singles. Leggett provided a double and a single. Alana Nettles ripped two singles. Alece Nettles had a double. Hitting safely were Stevie Montgomery, Destiny Wallace, Julianna Frazier and Kayci Beth Wallace.

Emilee Wallace was the top hitter at the plate for Franklin County with a double. Malaine Moak, Katylyn Smith and Jayde Haller hit a single each.

In junior varsity action, Bogue Chitto thumped Franklin County 12-4.

Gracie Guynes pitched the win for the Lady Cats with one strikeout and no walks.

Bogue Chitto was led at the plate with singles from Tasia Black, Payton Barron, Kylie Chapman, Rainie Welch and Guynes.
