North Pike beats Brookhaven

The North Pike Jaguars defeated the Brookhaven Panthers 16-1 in baseball action Tuesday night at Moyer Field.
The Panthers (0-3), coached by Randy Spring, will be in action today as they host an Ole Brook Invitation tournament for three days. Brookhaven will face McComb today starting at 7 p.m.

The Jaguars and the Panthers battled in a close contest in the first five innings of action as North Pike commanded a 5-0 lead.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Jaguars’ exploded with a 11-run surge to push their lead to 16-0. Brookhaven scored their only run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but it wasn’t enough as the game called on a 15-run mercy rule.
The Panthers used a three man pitching rotation in the loss. Jacob Porter was the starting pitcher for Brookhaven and finished with two strikeouts and three walks in three innings of work. Blaine Moak (1K, 2BB) pitched two innings in relief. Reese Reynaud (0K, 1BB) pitched the sixth inning in relief.
Tate Walley recorded the only hit for Brookhaven at the plate with a single.
Connor Travis was the winning pitcher on the mound for North Pike with four strikeouts and three walks. Dalton Reed (3K, 3BB) pitched one inning relief.
Cade Killingsworth powered the Jaguars’ offense with three singles. Ben Coney and Brantley Hughes contributed two singles each. Jacob Gill, Jacob Johnson, Tyler Alexander, Matthew Phillips, Jonah Bankston and Travis hit safely.
