Lawrence County teacher Stacie Case would like to know if the man who suffered a heart attack on China Grove Road is OK.

Case was traveling on the road Monday when she saw the man struggling on the ground.

“My little girl does competitives at Gym of Dreams,” Case said. “I went to pick her up, and I was coming home down China Grove. I just came up on it and got out to try to help him.”

Case said Scott Bessonette was already on the scene, but he had no cell service.

“So I called 911 and got the ambulance,” Case said. “The man that was having a heart attack, his truck was off the road in the ditch with the door open, and he’d gotten out of the truck and was trying to get on the road to get help. He had climbed up the embankment and was laying face-down there beside the road.”

Bessonette told Case there was a first responder living nearby by the name of Ronnie Killingsworth.

“By the time I got to Mr. Ronnie’s house, he’d heard that something was going on, so he was already a few minutes ahead of me,” Case said. “So we just got back and waited with him.”

Case didn’t know the man’s name and wanted to know if he was OK, so she took the story to Facebook.

“He was laying face-down and was in so much pain that he couldn’t really tell us a lot,” Case said. “I wanted to know how he was. I mean, I didn’t know what the condition was, if he survived. I was concerned about him, but I didn’t really know anybody that was there that night.”

From that post, she was able to find Bessonette, who told her the man was taken to a McComb hospital.

“I thought somehow with Facebook, with how it is, somebody would know him or something,” Case said. “But I still haven’t found out for sure. There’s a few people who said, ‘I think I may know a guy who kind of fits that description.’ But nothing has been confirmed.”

Case hopes anyone who knows the status of this man will contact her on Facebook.
