North Pike defeats Madison Central

MADISON – The North Pike Lady Jaguars picked up a big 13-9 victory over Madison Central Thursday night in fastpitch softball action.

The Lady Jaguars (3-1), coached by Sonya Wallace, will resume action today as they host the Brookhaven Lady Panthers. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

In the a battle between Lady Jaguars, North Pike and Madison Central, both started off strong scoring eight runs each in two innings of action.

North Pike managed to gain control of the contest in the third inning after scoring two runs to take over the lead at 10-8 and added three more runs throughout the rest of the game to secure the win.

Madison Bigner was the winning pitcher for North Pike with two strikeouts and 13 walks.

Britney Bonney absorbed the loss for Madison Central with six strikeouts and five walks. Amber Grace Luckey (1K, 4BB) pitched three innings in relief.

Sarah Brock powered the Summit-based Lady Jaguars with four singles. Jami Spears and Linley Smith contributed two singles apiece. Jenna Brock ripped a triple. Madison Bates, Janiah Talbert and Bigner provided a double each. Mary Kate Bates hit a single.

Bonney was the top hitter for Madison Central at the plate with a double and a single. Nicole Bergeron and Mya Hopson hit a single each.
