Lady Jackets cruise past Franklin County

MEADVILLE – The Enterprise Lady Jackets dominated the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs in a 19-1 victory Friday night.

In junior varsity action, Enterprise beat Franklin 11-0.

The Lady Jackets will be in action Monday as they head to Brookhaven to take on the Lady Panthers.

Lady Jackets 19, Lady Bulldogs 1 

The Lady Jackets quickly took care of business Friday as they jumped on the Lady Bulldogs early in the top of the first. Haley Nations started the offensive onslaught with a single. Carlee Nations hit a triple, scoring Haley Nations for the first run of the inning. Carly Polk hit a triple to bring in Nations. Jana Nations ripped a single to send home Carly Polk to give Enterprise a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first, the Lady Bulldogs scored their only run of the night with good base running and deep fly balls.

In the second inning, Franklin County pitcher Emilee Wallace had trouble finding the strike zone which Enterprise capitalized on by loading the bases on more than one occasion.

The Lady Jackets took advantage of the poor pitching and poor defense to thrash the Lady Bulldogs for 11 points, before the Lady Bulldogs’ defense was able to stop the bleeding with Enterprise leading 14-1.

In the bottom of the second, Carlee Nations took the mound for the Lady Jackets and behind good defense, was able to shut out the Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Jackets would score two more runs in the third and provided three additional runs in the fourth inning to win on a 12-run mercy rule.

“I’m proud of the girls. They played with confidence and hit the ball well. I’m proud of everything they have done” said Enterprise Coach Charissa Burke. “I’m proud of the girls for working as a team and if they keep working as a team, they’ll be successful.”

Carlee Nations picked up the win for the Lady Jackets with three strikeouts and two walks.

Emilee Wallace took the loss for the Lady Bulldogs with one strikeout and five walks.

Brook Foster powered the Lady Jackets with a double, a single and three RBIs. Nations contributed a triple, a single, and had two RBIs. Polk provided a triple, a single and had one RBI. Kinsey Dahlins hit a double and three singles with two RBIs. Hayley Nations and Jana Nations hit safely with two singles each. Abble Meredith hit three singles and finished with two RBIs. Lauren Gartman added a single and a RBI.

Shelly Case and Sydney Scott were the top hitters at the plate for the Lady Bulldogs with a single each.
