Lady Panthers squeeze past Enterprise

The Brookhaven Lady Panthers captured a 7-5 win over the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets Monday night in high school fastpitch softball action at the Ole Brook softball complex.
“I am glad that we were able to pull out the win,” said Brookhaven coach Mandy Vinson. “Our girls hit the ball really well offensively.”
The Lady Panthers (5-1) will return to action Friday as they travel to Monticello to take on the Lawrence County Lady Cougars. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.
The Lady Jackets will also be in action Friday as they host the Sumrall Lady Bobcats. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

Brookhaven hammered out eight hits against Enterprise, while the Lady Jackets had four hits.
Cheyenne Motley was the top hitter for the Lady Panthers with a triple and a single. Katherine Shell contributed a double and a single. Kat Wallace hit two singles. Hitting safely were Madison Thompson and Rileigh Allen.
Haley Nations directed the Lady Jackets’ offense with a double. Carlee Nations, Jana Nations, and Lauren Gartman all hit safely.
Shell was the winning pitcher for Brookhaven with six strikeouts and two walks.
Enterprise was used a two-man rotation – Haley Nations started the game and finished with five strikeouts and three walks in four innings of action. Jana Nations pitched in for the fifth and sixth innings. She finished with three strikeouts and no walks.
“I was proud of the way the girls came out ready to play,” said Enterprise coach Charissa Burke. “We faced a good, well-coached team and we will just have to prepare for the next ball game.”

In junior varsity action, The Lady Panthers scored two runs in four innings of action, while the Lady JAckets scored four runs.
Jayden Fuller was the leading hitter for Brookhaven with a double. Lydia Butler hit a single.
Caley Cangemi, Bell Porter, and Lynsey Nations paced the Lady Jackets with a single each.
Kristen Walker pitched the win for Enterprise with eight strikeouts and two walks.
Madison Thompson (0K, 3BB) and Rileigh Allen (0K, 2BB) absorbed the setback in the pitching circle for the Lady Panthers.
