Funeral service for Carolyn P. Hoover, 80, are Monday, March 14, 2016 at Riverwood Family Funeral Service at 10 a.m. with burial at Easthaven Cemetery.

Mrs. Hoover died March 10, 2016, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was born Jan. 11, 1936, in Westerville, Nebraska. She worked as a secretary with State Farm Insurance for 25 years and was a member of Jackson Street United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Floyd Hoover; parents, Rev. John and Beulah Payne; and sisters, Phylis Warns and Priscilla Copeland.

Survivors are her daughter, Teresa Hoover Boyd and husband, Wayne; and two grandchildren, Jason Boyd and Candace Boyd and spouse, Lauren; and one great-grandchild, Miller Boyd.

Mary Louise Pell

Funeral services for Mary Louise Pell, 86, are Monday, March 14, 2016, at Zion Hill Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with burial at Bethel Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday, March 13, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst.

Mrs. Pell died on March 10, 2016, at her residence. She served during the Korean Conflict in the WAC and did her basic training at Fort Lee, Virginia.  After basic training, she was sent to William Beaumont Hospital in El Paso, Texas.  While at Beaumont Hospital she took care of the babies.  After serving at William Beaumont she was transferred to Camp Stoneman in California to serve in the base hospital.  It was there that she finished her tour and was honorably discharged.  Her rank at the time was private 1st class.  While stationed at William Beaumont, she met her husband, David Pell.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William Thompson and Mary Eva Robinson Minor; husband, Quitman David Pell Sr.; brother, William Minor; two sons, David Pell Jr. and Leonard Allen Pell; great-grandson, Sammie Walker; and great-granddaughter, Bryanna Westrope.

Survivors are her daughters, Lisa Pell Franklin and Candy Pell Walker, both of Wesson, and Susan Pell Wallace of Brookhaven; sons, Robert Pell and Michael Pell, both of Crystal Springs; brothers, Allen Minor of Clinton, Missouri, and Leonard Minor of Centerview, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
