RAYMOND – The Lawrence County Lady Cougars blasted the Raymond Lady Rangers 24-0 Tuesday night in fastpitch softball action.

The Lady Cougars (3-3), coached by Meleah Howard, will resume action Thursday when they host the Brookhaven Lady Panthers. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

Lawrence County was too strong for the Lady Rangers in a three-inning contest.

The Lady Cougars kicked off the first inning with two runs and then hammered the Lady Rangers in the second inning with a 15-run explosion to take a commanding 17-0 lead.

In the third, the Lady Cougars plated seven more runs to secure the win at 24-0.

Elizabeth Smith was the winning pitcher in the three-inning, one-hit contest as she finished with eight strikeouts and no walks.

Abbie Errington sparked the Lady Cougars at the plate with a double and a single. Callie Fortenberry, Josie Nations, Tyranesha Davis, Alyssa Lambert and Zyon Feazell hit a single each.
