Funeral services for Versie McKinney Griffin are Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home with burial in Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery in McCall Creek. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 

Visitation is Wednesday, March 16, 2016, from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

Mrs. Griffin, 96, died Monday, March 14, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven. She was born on Aug. 5, 1919, in the Oldenburg community to Pat and Lula Bedford McKinney.

She was a member of McCall Creek Baptist Church and also attended the First Baptist Church of Bude. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Pat and Lula Bedford McKinney; step-father, Milton Seale; husband, Curtis Griffin; son, David Griffin; son-in-law, Proby Ballard; granddaughter, Robin Moreton; five sisters; and six brothers.

Survivors are her daughters, Jimmie Griffin Ballard of Brookhaven and Helen Griffin Moreton and husband, Ed, of Baltimore, Maryland; son, Butch Griffin and wife, Charlotte, of McCall Creek; daughter-in-law, Liz Griffin of Knoxville; grandchildren, Lisa Ballard, Chad Griffin, Brad Griffin, Clay Griffin, Clint Griffin, Lydia Moreton and Jill Blankenship; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
