The Brookhaven Animal Rescue League has been selected as the latest recipient of a national vaccination grant courtesy of GreaterGood.org and Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc., in partnership with The Animal Rescue Site.

BARL learned of the grant through an educational webinar series hosted by GreaterGood.org and BIVI. Presented by well–known veterinarians, the series provides general information, facts and answers to common questions that shelter veterinarians and shelter staff frequently experience.

“Animal rescue organizations like the Brookhaven Animal Rescue League are charged with the daunting task of keeping the animals in their care healthy and happy until they find forever homes,” says Albrecht Kissel, president and CEO for BIVI. “We hope that by sharing our expertise and providing financial support to these organizations, they are better able to fulfill their missions.”

BARL board member Rusty Adcock said a volunteer attended the webinar to gain knowledge and received information on the grant.

“Vaccinating is definitely a safety issue,” Adcock said. “State law says all animals have to have rabies vaccinations and this grant will help us provide that to the animals in our care. Vaccinating allows for a safer environment for the community and keeps the animals in better health.”
