Funeral services for Garland Wade Smith are Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 7 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Wednesday, March 23, 2016, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Mr. Smith, 64, died Thursday, March 17, 2016, at his residence in Brookhaven. He was born on Sept. 21, 1951, in McComb to Willard P. Smith and Sarah Brown Clark.

He worked for many years as a self-employed handyman. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved to go fishing. He was a loving son, father and grandfather.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Willard P. Smith and Sarah Brown Clark; brothers, Michael Smith and William “Bill” Stanley; and granddaughter, Amber Lynn Smith.

Survivors are his daughters, Amy Smith Alford and husband, Michael, of Brookhaven, Carrie Smith DeWitt of Brookhaven and Anna Smith Bates of Damascus, Arkansas; grandchildren, Christopher Michael Sublett, Gandalf Malone Sublett, Talon Wade Sublett, Haliey Alford, Brooke Alford, Drelyn Anthony DeWitt, D`Avantae Danley DeWitt, Destiny Jade Bates; and a host of family and friends.
