Lady Cats blank Franklin County

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats defeated the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 11-0 in fastpitch softball action Monday.

“We played really well tonight,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “Even though we had a long layoff, I thought we did an excellent job both offensively and defensively. Christian Black pitched really well and we had some big hits at the right time.

The Lady Cats (7-2) will resume action today as they travel to Terry. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

Bogue Chitto 11, Franklin Co. 0 

The Lady Cats quickly took care of business as they secured a 7-0 lead in two innings of action. BC added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to increase the lead to 11-0.

Bogue Chitto’s strong defense held the Lady Bulldogs scoreless through five innings to collect the shutout victory.

Christian Black was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with eight strikeouts and one walk.

Emily Wallace suffered the setback in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs with four strikeouts and 10 walks.

Baileigh Jackson powered the Lady Cats with two singles. Alana Nettles contributed a double. Hitting safely were Zariah Matthews, Terrah Nelson, Christian Black, Codi Leggett and Karly Leake.

Brandi O’Neal was the top hitter at the plate for Franklin County with a double. Shelly Case had a single.
