Parents take notice: Lindsey Head Start is hosting a recruitment drive on April 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We’re asking for all parents that have children ages 3-5 to come register their children,” LHS teacher Cassandra Barnes said.

Lindsey Head Start is a branch of Mississippi Action for Progress, whose mission is, “to serve as a catalyst for change and development of a broad range of programs which meet the needs of the disadvantaged community.” They provide education services for young children in low-income families.

Lindsey Head Start Center serves approximately 110 children, according to Barnes. She said she joined the organization because of, “the love and care for young children.” Barnes has been a teacher there for 16 years.

LHS is located at 624 E. Monticello St. Parents who come to register their children will also get a barbecue lunch. There is no cost for registration.
