Lady Cats win division crown

SALEM – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats knocked off the Salem Lady Wildcats 3-0 Tuesday night to win the Region 7-1A crown in fastpitch softball.

“It was a slow night offensively, but we played great defense and pitched well,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “Overall, I was proud of the girls’ effort for winning our division.”

The Lady Cats (12-3, 2-0) will resume action Thursday as they travel to Clinton to take on the Lady Arrows. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

Lady Bobcats 3, Lady Wildcats 0 

The Lady Cats relied on strong defense to keep Salem off the scoreboard. BC scored one run each in the first, second and third innings to secure the 3-0 victory.

Christian Black collected the win on the rubber for BC with eight strikeouts and two walks.

Dakota Thomas suffered the loss for Salem with four strikeouts and two walks.

Black was the top hitter at the plate for the Lady Cats with a double. Hitting safely were Zariah Matthews, Cherie Savoie, Alana Nettles and Karly Leake,

Aliyah McGlown direct the Lady Wildcats with a double. Brittney Bergeron and Hanna Rushing provided a single each.
