The West Lincoln Bears won a division doubleheader Tuesday night against the Bassfield Yellowjackets.

The Bears swatted away the Yellowjackets 11-9 and 19-0 to complete the division sweep.

“These were two good wins for our team,” said West Lincoln coach Davis Gilbert. “Bassfield has a team full of athletes and they got some momentum late in game one to give us a scare. Spears did not have his best stuff, but he battled and got the win. Fielder came in at the end of the game to get a big save.

“In game two, we didn’t give them much of a chance to gain momentum,” said Gilbert. “Seth Bivens threw another no-hitter and we took advantage of their walks and mistakes. We are all set up to battle it out with Enterprise and Loyd Star for the top three spots in our district.”

The Bears (11-3, 6-0) will return to action Saturday when they host the Natchez Cathedral Green Wave. Junior varsity action starts at 11 a.m., followed by the varsity game at 1 p.m.
