St. Andrews defeats Wesson

WESSON – The Wesson Cobras fell to the St. Andrews Saints 10-6 Saturday night.

In a make-up division game, the Cobras picked up a 10-0 forfeit win Saturday over the Hazlehurst Indians.

The Cobras (10-3, 4-0), coached by Seth Lofton, will return to district action Tuesday when they host the Jefferson County Tigers. Junior varsity action begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

St. Andrews 10, Wesson 6 

The Cobras came out strong in the first two innings to claim a 3-0 lead, but the Saints rallied to outscore Wesson 10-3 in the final five to steal the win.

Jeremy Smith absorbed the setback on the mound for the Cobras with two strikeouts and three walks. Preston Middleton (0K, 1BB) pitched the last inning in relief.

Payton Selman and Derek Freeman paced Wesson with a double each. Max Daughdrill contributed two singles. Payton Selman, Will Hulon and Cade Rast hit safely.

Banks Tolley was the wining pitcher for the Saints with five strikeouts and two walks. Evan Bowman (1K, 0BB) started for St. Andrews and Stephen Atkins (1K, 0BB) collected the save.

Holland Townes was the top hitter at the plate for St. Andrews with a double and a single. Kenny Bryson provided two singles. Sam Roffwarg, Stephen Atkins, Ryan McCarty and Evan Bowman had a single each.
