Woman in stable condition following shooting

A Brookhaven woman was hospitalized after being shot Thursday, and three individuals have been charged in the incident.
The Brookhaven Police Department reported that someone discharged a firearm in the city Thursday evening. BPD responded to the call at 6:13 p.m. on E. Congress Street.
Police Chief Bobby Bell said a woman was struck by a bullet and was transported to King’s Daughters Medical Center. Bell said the woman was in stable condition, but he would not release where she was shot.
The woman’s son and several friends were involved in an altercation with another group of men when she was shot, Bell said.
Armone Sims, 18, Shawan Allen,17, and Shamonte Brooks, 24, were charged with aggravated assault in connection with the incident.
Bell said the altercation is still under investigation.
