BC Lady Cats beat Salem

The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats knocked off the Salem Lady Wildcats 14-0 in Region 7-1A action in Walthall County.

“Alana Nettles pitched well and we played great defense behind her,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “We had two big innings at the plate and we did a great job driving in runs.”

The Lady Cats (14-3, 3-0) will return to action Friday when they host the Wesson Lady Cobras. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6:30 p.m.

Lady Bobcats 14, Lady Wildcats 0

Bogue Chitto was too much for Salem to handle. The Lady Bobcats kicked off the first inning with a six-run surge to claim an early lead.

BC added eight more runs in the top of the fourth to secure the victory.

Alana Nettles pitched the one-hit shutout for BC with two strikeouts and one walk.

Chassity Hightower suffered the loss on the rubber with no strikeouts and two walks.

Zariah Matthews powered BC with three singles. Codi Leggett contributed a triple and a single. Alana Nettles provided two singles. Destiny Wallace had a double. Cherie Savoie, Reagan Kirkland, Karly Leake and Alece Nettles hit safely.

Zoie Bridges recorded the only hit at the plate for Salem with a single.

<cTypeface:Bold> In junior varsity action, <cTypeface:Plain> Bogue Chitto defeated Salem 6-1.

Gracie Guynes was the winning pitcher for Lady Bobcats with one strikeout and one walk.

Kylie Chapman directed BC with a triple. Alece Nettles and Julianna Frazier provided a double each. Kayci Beth Wallace and Payton Barron had a single each.
