The Loyd Star Lady Hornets captured two quick division wins over the Prentiss Lady Bulldogs Tuesday night at Jan Smith Delaughter Field.

Loyd Star dominated Prentiss 21-0 in the first game and blanked the Lady Bulldogs 16-0 in the second.

The Lady Hornets (11-5, 4-1), coached by Jan Delaughter, continue district action today when they host the West Lincoln Lady Bears. Junior varsity action begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 7 p.m.

The Lady Hornets picked up a quick, three-inning victory. They pounded out 14 runs in the first inning and added seven more in the second inning.

Makenzie Smith was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts and no walks. Kelsie McCullough (3K, 1BB) pitched the third inning in relief.

Makenzie Smith sparked Loyd Star’s offensive onslaught with two doubles. Marley Poole contributed a triple and a single. Meagan Poole and Carly Beth Wallace provided a triple each. Megan Norton had a double. Lydia Britt, Madison Jones, Johnna Norman and Aly Floyd hit safely.

Lady Hornets 16, Lady Bulldogs 0

Loyd Star continued its strong offensive attack in the second game. It kicked off the first with 12 runs and added four more runs in the second to collect the win in a three-inning shutout.

McCullough earned the victory on the rubber for Loyd Star with four strikeouts and no walks. Marley Poole (2K, 0BB) pitched the third inning in relief.

Madison Jones powered the Lady Hornets with two doubles. Johnna Norman provided a triple and a double. Meagan Poole had a triple. Carly Beth Wallace ripped a double. Marley Poole hit a single.
