Funeral services for Lucille Calcote Beard of Chicago, Illinois, are Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Damascus M. B. Church in Brookhaven with burial in Ebenezer AME Church Cemetery. R. E. Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Visitation is Friday, April 8, 2016, from 12 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Beard, 97, died Saturday, April 2, 2016, at her residence. She was born Nov. 23, 1918, in Lincoln County to the late Dan Calcote and Dora Hudson.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Frank Beard; and two daughters Florine and Thelma.

Survivors are her four sons, Lonnie Shannon of Chicago, Illinois, John Shannon (Ursula) Indianapolis, Indiana, James Beard (Diane) of Lansing, Michigan and Victor B. Payton (Tomecia) of Waynesboro; four daughters, Ruth Young of Chicago, Illinois, Ora Ward (James) of Chicago, Illinois, Ellen Ann Beard of Chicago, Illinois and Olivia Smith (Stanley) of Chicago, Illinois; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
