WESSON – The Wesson Cobras picked up an easy 16-0 division victory over the Crystal Springs Tigers Thursday afternoon in Region 7-3A action.

“I was very proud of our effort today,” said Wesson coach Seth Lofton. “The guys came out focused and were ready to play. Overall, we are glad to get the win.”

The Cobras (12-3, 7-0) will continue division action today when they host the Jefferson County Tigers. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 7 p.m.

Wesson 16, Crystal Springs 0 

The Cobras dominated the Tigers in a quick three-inning contest. Wesson scored three runs in the first and five runs in the second, before finishing off Crystal Springs in the third with an eight-run surge.

Peyton Burns was the winning pitcher for the mound with three strikeouts and one walk.

Paxton Blocker suffered the loss for the Tigers with one strikeout and five walks.

Max Daughdrill powered the Cobras’ offensive explosion with a double and a single. Payton Selman contributed two singles. Bolon Tadlock and Derek Freeman provided a triple each. Hitting safely were Slay Acy and Preston Middleton.

The Tigers were led at the plate by Kay Henderson, Malik Johnson and Theodore Jordan with a single each.
