MONTICELLO – The Wesson Cobras defeated the Lawrence County Cougars 6-1 in tennis action at Atwood tennis courts Thursday.

In junior varsity action, Lawrence County beat Wesson 3-2.

Wesson’s next match will be in the first round of the MHSAA Class 3A state playoffs against Philadelphia.

Boys No. 1 doubles: Ray Drane/Reid Crow (W) def. Drew Nelson/Will Thurman (LC) 1-6, 6-3, (11-9).

Girls No. 1 doubles: Morgan Wesley/Jasmine King (W) def. Keegan Thurman/Karen Ruth Turnage (LC) 3-6, 6-1, (10-5).

Boys No. 2 doubles: Devin Wallace/Drew Hulon (W) def. Lane Rutland/Daniel Lee Tran (LC) 1-6, 6-2, (13-11).

Girls No. 2 doubles: Alyssa Dale/Sarina Dale (LC) def. Brianna Coley/Issy Morse (W) 6-2, 6-4.
