Funeral services for Charles “Keith” Carr Sr. of Monticello are Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at 2 p.m. at New Zion Baptist Church in Monticello with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. 

Visitation is Tuesday, April 12, 2016, from 6 until 9 p.m. at New Zion and Wednesday, April 13, 2016, from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Mr. Carr, 62, died Saturday, April 9, 2016, in Brookhaven. He was born Sept. 7, 1953.

He was a logger and a member of New Zion Baptist Church in Monticello. Mr. Carr was also a member of several associations including Mason, past FFA state officer, CERT, shiner, Mississippi Loggers Association, Simbrah/Simmetal Association, Mississippi Cattlemen Association, Lawrence County Livestock Association, Mississippi Citizen Corp Advisory Council and Gideons International.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Claude Carr and Charlene “Sug” Smith Carr; and one grandson, Caleb Taylor Ronquille.

Survivors are his wife, Karen Grayson Carr; son, Charles Keith Carr Jr. and spouse, Hope; daughters, Ammie Carr, Julie Ronquille and spouse, Blane, Mistie Carr, Kortney Magee and spouse, Heath, Kimberly Dunaway and spouse, Jacky and Krystal Ladd and spouse, Cody; 18 grandchildren, Mikayla McDaniel, Austin Messa, Trista Carr, James Carr, Sarah Ronquille, Dylon Dunaway, Abby Kate Magee, Logan Ronquille, Charlie Ann Carr, Hunter Magee, Kaylee Ronquille, Elizabeth Carr, Cooper Carr, Eden Messa, Olivia Stall, Callum Carr, Mary

Funeral services for Kenneth Wayne Massengale of Brandon are Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 12 p.m. at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland.

Mr. Massengale, 68, died Thursday, April 7, 2016. He was born June 26, 1947, in Hattiesburg to Mary G. White Massengale and Kenneth R. Massengale.

Mr. Massengale graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1966 and attended the University of Mississippi.  He was drafted into the Army and served his country proudly in Vietnam as a CWO2 helicopter pilot. He flew all of his life, and was employed by B&S Air, Inc. in Lumpkin, Georgia, on March 1, 1997, as acting chief pilot. Ken was in on ground zero of the company’s incorporation. Ken’s expertise at his craft and his way of connecting with customers made him invaluable to B&S’s operations. His 19 years of input and dedication contributed to much of the growth and success of B&S and will truly be missed by his co-workers and peers.

He enjoyed flying, his four grandchildren, spending time with his family, fast older model sports cars, racing remote control cars and shooting guns. He was a member of National Rifle Association and the Mississippi Agricultural Aviation Association. Ken was honest to a fault, fearless, committed and very loyal to his family and friends.

Chief Warrant Officer Ken Massengale served his country proudly and honorably as a helicopter pilot in the United States Army.  Ken’s service included a tour in Vietnam where he valiantly served as a combat helicopter pilot progressing from pilot to aircraft commander to instructor pilot.  While in Vietnam, Ken flew over 1,000 hours of combat time with the 128th Assault Helicopter Company, 11th Combat Aviation Battalion, 12th Group, 1st Aviation Brigade at Phu Loi Army Airfield, III Corp.  Ken’s Combat Awards include the Bronze Star, multiple awards of the Air Medal, the Army Commendation medal, Vietnam Service Ribbon, two Overseas Bars and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm Device.  After returning from overseas, Ken attended the Department of Army Methods of Instruction Course at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, to become an instructor pilot while serving at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missiouri.  His last active duty assignment was with the 25th Infantry Division, Tropic Lightening, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

He married Linda Blackburn Bruno of Milton, Florida, in 1979 at the Ross Barnett Reservoir in Brandon.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and sister, Patti Massengale.

Survivors are his wife, Linda Massengale of Brandon; daughters, Lisa Bruno Davis (Billy) of Gulf Breeze, Florida and Jennifer Bruno Stites (John) of West Monroe, Louisiana; sister, Trudy Ratcliff (Kenneth) of Van Alstyne, Texas; brother, Dennis Massengale of Hideaway, Texas; nephew, Christopher Ratcliff of Houston, Texas; niece, Tammy Reiter of McKinney, Texas; four grandchildren, Gavin and Gracie Davis of Gulf Breeze, Florida and Natalie and Chance Stites of West Monroe, Louisiana; and cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services for Robert Wayne Pickering Jr. of Wesson are Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial at Bethel Temple Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday, April 13, 2016, from 9 a.m. until time of the services at the funeral home.

Mr. Pickering, 38, died Saturday, April 9, 2016, at his residence.

Preceding him in death were his grandfathers, Eric “Herk” Rials, Tom Pickering and L. C. Townsend; grandmother, Cloteal Townsend; uncles, Sammy Rials and Ronnie Rials; and aunt, Janice Theriot.

Survivors are his wife, Rose Kayleen Lusk Pickering; his parents, Donald and Brenda Townsend, Robert Wayne Pickering Sr. and Liz Pickering; sons, Layden James Pickering and Dayton Jarman; daughter, Ember Jayde Pickering; brothers, D.J.
