WESSON – The Franklin County Lady Bulldogs captured a 6-2 win division over the Wesson Lady Cobras Monday night in Region 7-3A action.

“I am extremely proud of my girls’ effort,” said FC coach Sally Case. “This was a big division win for us. Emilee Wallace pitched a an outstanding game for us.”

The Lady Bulldogs will continue division action today when they host Tylertown. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6 p.m.

The Lady Cobras, coached by Michelle Nunnery, will return to action Thursday when they travel to Tylertown for a division test. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6 p.m.

Lady Bulldogs 6, Lady Cobras 2 

The Lady Bulldogs came out strong in the first three innings to secure a 3-0 lead. They relied on their strong defense to keep Wesson scoreless until the seventh.

Franklin County added two more two more runs in the fifth and one in the seventh inning to increase the lead to 6-0.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Lady Cobras managed to score two quick runs and threatened to score more, but the Lady Bulldogs held off the attack.

“Franklin County came ready to play and we did not,” said Nunnery. “It is tough to win games if we don’t hit. Franklin County’s Emilee Wallace pitched a great game against us.”

Emilee Wallace was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bulldogs with six strikeouts, three walks and one hit batter.

Laynee Crapps suffered the setback for the Lady Cobras with two strikeouts and no walks.

Brandi O’Neal powered the Lady Bulldogs with a double and two walks. Cheyenne Higgs contributed a double and a single. Tabitha Thompson had two singles. Shelly Case provided a double. Hitting safely were Chasney Green, Emilee Wallace and Sydney Scott.

Arie Douglas, Amber Brinson, Katie McSweyn, Catherine Wilson and Anna Claire Crow directed the Lady Cobras with a single each.

In junior varsity action, Wesson thumped Franklin County 10-0.

Laynee Crapps pitched the win.

Shelbi Maxwell, Nikki Guess and Crapps paced the Lady Cobras with two singles each. Crow had a double. Green and Douglas hit safely.
