Lady Cats dominate Vicksburg

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats (18-3,3-0) defeated the Lady Gators of Vicksburg 14-0 Tuesday night in a four-inning contest.
“We hit the ball well tonight. So proud that Reagan Kirkland and Christian Black were able to hit two balls over tonight. Codi Leggett pitched a great game tonight. Overall I’m proud of the girls and they played well. We hit the ball well, played tough defense, and our pitching was very good tonight,” said Coach Scott Leggett.
The Lady Cats will be back in action today when they travel to Clinton for a varsity game at 5:30 p.m. if weather permits.
Lady Cats 14, Lady Gators 0
The Lady Cats started the game on fire, scoring three runs in the first inning, and they never looked back. The Lady Cats erupted with six runs in the second inning to take over the lead at 9-0.
The Lady Cats would just finish the Lady Gators off in the bottom of the third inning by plating another five runs to extend their lead to 14-0. The Lady Cats’ defense was flawless, holding Vicksburg to zero runs without making a single error.
Codi Leggett was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with five strikeouts and zero walks.
Olivia Oakes suffered the loss for the Lady Gators with two strikeouts and five walks.
The heavy hitters for the Lady Cats were Zariah Matthews with a single and a double, Terrah Nelson with a single and a double, Christian Black with a single and a homerun and Reagan Kirkland with a homerun. Cherie Savoie, Codi Leggett, Julianna Frazier and Baileigh Jackson all produced singles.
Myah Wright and Bethany Martin were the only two to produce any offense for the Lady Gators – both hit a single each.
