Lady Panthers capture division crown

The Brookhaven Lady Panthers beat the Natchez Lady Bulldogs 18-0 Friday night to capture the division crown.

“It felt good to win district,” said BHS coach Mandy Vinson. “Now we have to finish the season out strong and get ready for playoffs.”

The Lady Panthers started the game strong with eight hits in the first inning to score 11 runs. BHS added five runs in the second inning and two additional runs in the third inning.

Leading the Lady Panthers was Kat Wallace with a triple and a single. Katherine Shell and Haley Speaks also hit triples during the game. Macy Ziskin had a double and a single. Tia Bussey and Jadeyn Fuller had two singles each. Hitting safely were Rileigh Allen and Maley Moak.

Sharing duties on the mound were Jadeyn Fuller, who started the game and had one strikeout and one walk, and Madison Thompson, who came to the mound in the third inning and had two walks and no strikeouts.
