LAUREL – The Brookhaven Academy Cougars battled on a wet field against the Laurel Christian Lions Tuesday evening and fell short 7-3.
Carter Culbertson led BA at the plate with a double while Fisher Warren, Taylor Freeny, Madison Smith and Dawson Flowers each singled for the Cougars.
Tom Scroggin had two hits for the Lions.
Freeny suffered the setback on the mound for BA, striking out four LCS batters in his night of work.
JT Badley went the distance for Laurel striking out seven Cougars in the process.
“We had some opportunities but left runners in scoring position,” said BA head coach Tyler Parvin. “I was pleased with a much better defensive effort from our guys and that’s what we must have to be competitive.”
BA completes the series with Laurel on Friday at Harold Williams Ballpark. JV first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. The Cougars will honor their senior ballplayers on Senior Night starting at 6:50 p.m. followed by varsity action at 7.
