BC lifters capture fifth place

The Bogue Chitto Bobcats powerlifting team took home fifth place overall in the state competition Saturday in Jackson.

Six Bobcats lifters finished strong in their weight division. Evan Kysar and Chris Carter finished second in the 114-pound and 123-pound class to capture the silver medal. DeMarcus Godbolt and Davis Hart both finished fourth, Kyzar Holmes placed fifth and J.T. McCaffrey finished sixth.

Evan Kysar finished second in 114-pound weight class with a total of 560 total pounds. Kysar, a ninth grader, finished with 195 pounds in squat, 105 pounds on bench and 260 pounds in deadlift.

Chris Carter placed third in 123-pound weight class with a total of 620 pounds. Carter, an eighth grader, squatted 220 pounds, benched 125 pounds and deadlifted 275 pounds.

DeMarcus Godbolt took home fourth place in the 148-pound weight class with a total of 840 pounds. Godbolt, a ninth grader, finished with 300 pounds in squat, 180 pounds on bench and deadlifted 360 pounds.

Davis Hart, a seventh grader, placed fourth in the 242-pound weight class with a total of 505 pounds. Hart finished with 135 pounds in squat, 120 pounds on bench and deadlifted 250 pounds.

Kyzar Holmes, a seventh grader, finished fifth in the 220-pound weight class with a total of 555 pounds. Holmes squatted a total of 175 pounds, bench pressed 125 pounds and deadlifted 255 pounds.

J.T. McCaffrey, a seventh grader, took home sixth place in the 114-pound weight class with a total of 515 pounds. McCaffrey finished with 205 pounds in squat, 100 pounds on bench and deadlifted 210 pounds.
